Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2005 GMC Savana. We show you the driver's side. The passenger's side is the same procedure. It's pretty much the same for most GMC Savanas and Chevy Expresses. This truck has manual mirrors so we didn't need to remove the door panel. Many trucks may have power mirrors and in the case of power mirrors, you'll need to remove the door panel to unplug the mirror harness inside the door. What we do is the first part of the video we just show you the simple take off and reinstallation of the mirror and then the second part of the video we show you how to remove the door panel and reinstall it.
Up in the top corner there will be a trim panel, just pull firmly from the bottom and the top. Then there are three 10mm nuts, there's two there and one further inside. I'll speed up here as we remove those three 10mm nuts. Then you can remove your mirror or what's left of your mirror.
Here you can see the new mirror from 1A Auto is the exact same as the old mirror. The truck has the little visors on the outside so Don just puts the mirror up underneath them and installs it. Now I'll just fast forward as he puts those three 10mm nuts on and tightens them up. Again this was the simple version, non-power mirror. Next you're going to see how to remove and reinstall your door panel and you'll need to do that if you have a power mirror that you have to disconnect inside the door.
Start by using a flat blade screwdriver and you can pry out on the outer panel of the door pull. You see there are clips that hold it in; they just pull right out. Now you can remove the inner panel by removing six screws: three small ones there, a larger one there and another small one there and a larger one there. We're just going to fast forward as we remove all of those screws.
Use a flat blade screwdriver again and pry on the panel that's right behind the door handle and that comes out. In behind there, there are two more Phillips screws. We'll fast forward here again as we remove those two screws and you do have to push in quite hard to keep the screwdriver in the screw to get it started. Now you can pull on that upper panel, and it unclips from the door panel, and then unclip all of your accessories in the back: power door locks, power windows, power mirror, et cetera. Usually they just have a tab that you press and pull the connector off.
Grab hold of that top mirror bezel and trim and pull firmly to remove it. Start at the top corner of the door panel, pull firmly and they're just a series of clips around the outer edge of the door panel that hold it into the door. You work your hand to each clip and pull firmly and they release and then you can lift the door panel up and off.
Installing the door panel is a reverse of the procedure. There are clips on the panel that go around the outside, so you want to first make sure that all your harnesses come through, hang the door panel up and make sure it goes down on the ledge of the window ledge and then just set the clips by using the back of your fist or your palm.
Speed things up here a little bit here. Take your accessory panel and make sure you clip all our accessories in place, power door locks, windows, mirror and then line it up on the door and clip it into place. Replace the two Phillips screws that are in behind the door handle and then put the trim bezel back on and clip it into place. Put the upper trim panel back in place just by putting the tab in at the bottom and pressing it in.
We'll speed up here again as we put the bracket in place that is the door pull and then holds the other piece of outer trim. If you're just taking the door panel on and off, you probably don't need to remove all those small screws, you probably just needed to remove the two big ones but this is the way we did it this time. We're putting those large screws back in place and then put all the other small screws put in place to hold it all together. Last but not least, snap that upper panel back in place.

Nothing short of perfect. My mirror was an exact fit for my Van. You couldn't even tell that it was not an OEM product.
This is not my 1st experience with 1A Auto And I found their customer service to be exemplary I would not hesitate to place another order.

I totally smashed the passenger mirror of my work van while backing it out of the garage during a snowstorm. 1AAuto had a replacement shipped to me in 2 business days. The replacement part works great and was protected well for shipping. All the functions work great! The power adjustment, heater and blinker all work just like the factory mirror did.
Customer Q&A
If i currently only have manuel mirrors , is there a place to plug in these new power mirrors? Or is there a different wire harness for that? I would really like to convert to power mirrors on both sides.June 9, 2021

Mirrors should be replaced in an "option for option" fashion. If your mirrors do not have the same options that are listed in our listing, they will not fit and function correctly.
