Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the bulbs as well as replace the entire taillight assembly on this 2005 Ford F150. We show you on the passenger side, but the driver side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this include new tail lights from 1AAuto.com and an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
Open up your tailgate and then remove these two 8mm bolts on the side of your tail light. We'll just fast-forward as Mike does that. Now pull the tail light out.
Twist the sockets counterclockwise to remove them. If you're just looking to replace a bulb, the bulb just pulls right out. Push your new one into place. This one's the same way.
On the left is the old tail light assembly; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same.
Take your new tail light. Twist the socket back into place; turn clockwise to lock them in. Line up these two pins with these two holes and on the other side these two pins with these two holes. Just push it back into place. When it pops in, replace those two 8 millimeter bolts.
As you're tightening these up, just be careful not to over-tighten them as you are going into plastic. You don't want to strip them out.
Then just test it out. Make sure the brake lights and the reverse lights work. You can see they do. You're all set.
