Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to change the oil on this 2005 Ford Focus with the 2-liter engine. The items you will need for this include jack and jack stands, a drip pan, 5/8 inch socket and ratchet, oil filter wrench, oil, and an oil filter.

Your oil pan drain plug is located right here. Using a 5/8 inch socket and ratchet, you want to just remove that. Make sure you have a drip pan underneath. Just let that oil drain out. When it stops draining, put the drain plug back in place and tighten it up.

Your oil filter is located right here. Using an oil filter wrench, twist it free. Once you've loosened it up, you can twist it the rest of the way by hand. Again, make sure you have a drip pain underneath this.

Clean the area where the oil filter was with a rag. Take your new oil filter and fill it up with oil. Then rub some oil around the rim of the oil filter. Feed it back up into place. Once the filter stops turning freely, the gasket is seated and you want to turn it another 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.

Open up your oil fill cap and pour in the required amount of oil. Replace your cap. Once you've filled the crank case with oil, you'll want to check the oil. Make sure you have just about the right amount. If you have a little over, you're okay.

Then you'll want to start the car up and let the oil run through the engine for a little bit. Make sure your oil light goes off, and if you have an oil gauge that it's registering good pressure. Then recheck and fill with oil as needed to get it on the right spot on the dipstick.
