How to check and fill your transmission fluid on 09 Honda CR-V
Funnel
Paper Towels
Hi. I'm Mike from 1AAuto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
We're going to release the hood. Right by this foot rest, grab the lever right there and you pull it out. Now we're going to pull up on the hood. The release is right here. Just push that up. Release the hood, and you can grab the prop rod right here. Pull it up and stick it right there.
Now we're going to check the transmission fluid, there's a dipstick right here. What you want to do is, you want to get the engine nice and hot to the point where the coolant fans come on, and then you can shut the engine off. You're going to wait 60 seconds, and you can grab the dipstick and pull it out. You're going to wipe it, and we're going to insert the dipstick. Push it all the way down. Let it sit for two seconds. Then, pull it out and check the level.
You want the level to be in between these two dots. Our engine's cold, so our levels down here, but when it's hot, should be in between those two dots.
If your fluid level is low, and you need to top it off, you're going to want to use a funnel like this, long and skinny and slide it down into where the dipstick hole goes, and you can top your fluid off right there. When you're done topping it off, you can pull the funnel out, take the dipstick indicator, and slide it back in the hole. You're going to want to make sure that rubber grommet goes all the way down.
Close the hood. We're going to pull the prop rod out, put it back in its holder, and drop the hood.
