How to check the engine oil on 07 Honda Accord
Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.
Hi, everyone. Sue here from 1A Auto, and today we have a 07 Honda Accord in the shop with a 2.4-liter. And I'm going to show you how to just check your engine and how to add some oil if you need to.
So on the valve cover we have the oil fill cap, and the manufacturer puts right there the type of oil this car takes. It takes 5W-20. And to take the cap off you just turn it counter-clockwise, and then you could add oil right there. And to check the oil, the engine has to be off. Preferably check it when it's cold.
I like to check my oil on my engines like first thing in the morning before I start them up. That way they've been sitting all night and all the oil has drained from the heads down into the oil pan. So you just grab your oil stick, which this is located out of the valve cover. Honda puts a nice orange cover with the symbol of an oil can. So to check it, you wipe it clean. Reinstall. Make sure you put it all the way down and it snaps down. And then you just pull it back out. Let's see where our level is.
So we're right in between the low and the high. We're perfect. That's where I want to see it most of the time. I want to see the oil right in the center. This car is warm. So that's a perfect time and location to check it. Make sure it's right in the middle. So we know that this doesn't need to be added and we're all set.
