Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!

Hi, everyone. Sue from 1A Auto here and today on our 07 Mazda 3 with a 2.0 liter in it, we're going to be checking the automatic tranny fluid. I'm going to show you how to check it on the dipstick and where to fill the fluid. So if you need anything for your car, come on over to 1aauto.com.

Hood release is located right here. Safety latch is right above the Mazda symbol, right in the center. And you just turn it over to the right. And then you have the hood prop rod, and you put it in where the arrow goes and says rod, right in there and lock it in.

So this the location of the automatic transmission dipstick. When you want to check your fluid, you're going to pull that out and you'll see the reading on here, it says 65 celsius or 20 celsius, which 20 means cold, obviously, the lower number.

And the hot fluid is going to be here at that the 65. They give you two lines to go through. So to check the automatic tranny fluid on this vehicle, you would start the car up, run it at idle, run through each gear for about three seconds, and put it back into park. Leave it running. Come out here, and you pull the dipstick out with it running and find the fluid level.

If the car is hot, if it's been running for over half hour, it should be in between these two notches. If the car is cold, it's first thing in the morning, or it hasn't been running for at least four hours, it'll be from this notch down. If it's in that area, that's a safe zone.

You do not need to add any fluid. So if you would add fluid, you would add it with a funnel, nice long funnel. Put it through into there and add your quart of automatic tranny fluid and decide which fluid goes in. Check your manual, always has in the back description of what type of fluid this particular car calls for.
