Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we're going to show you how to replace the sway bar bushings in this 2003 Nissan Frontier. It's pretty much the same operation for model years 2001 through 2003. In order to complete this repair the items needed will be new bushings from 1A Auto, a jack and jack stands, 10mm and 14mm sockets and ratchet, and a pry bar.
If you're hearing the rattling from the front end what you want to do is reach under here and these are your sway bar links. You can grab hold of the sway bar, shake it back and forth, and make sure that the bushings there aren't worn out. Also, make sure that these bushings aren't worn out and the sway bar's not rattling in there.
Start by locating the five 10mm bolts that hold the front splash pan in place. I'm using a 10mm socket and ratchet and I'm removing those five and taking the splash pan down. I will fast forward as I do this. Four 14mm bolts hold the brackets on: two on one side and two on the other side. I am using a 14mm socket and socket wrench and if you need to you can always slide a pipe over the ratchet for a little extra leverage. I'm going to fast forward as I remove those four bolts. Here's what it looks like with them off. You can take the bracket off and then separate there, the bushing and pull that off and go ahead and do that with the opposite side.
Go ahead back in with your new bushings from 1A Auto, which are direct replacement fit. Put them over the bar; open them up and slide them over the bar, and then put the bracket on top of them. Center it on there and then go ahead and do that with the opposite side. Now I'm using a pry bar to lift up on the sway bar and center those bushings and bracket and reinstall the 14mm bolts. I'll go ahead and fast forward as I do that.
Go ahead with your splash pan and reinstall the five 10mm bolts and I'll go ahead and fast forward as I do that.
