How to install a stow hook on 14 Subaru XV Crossrek
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
The vehicle needs to be towed. Open the hatch. Want to go inside to the tool kit, underneath this cargo mat, underneath the cargo floor. Grab the tow hook that's in here. I'm also going to grab the Jack handle. It's just the clip to the foam on the side. Pull this all out. And I'm also going to grab the screwdriver in here. It has both a flat head and a Phillips. So, if you don't see the flat head or if you don't see the Phillips, you just pull it out, flip it over, and put it in.
In the rear of the vehicle, there's a little door here. I'm going to use a rag to not scratch the paint. The flat head through the screwdriver part under here, pop it up, it's got a little hook, so it'll stay in place. There's a threaded opening way in there, will thread this towing eye in there. Real nice and tight. It starts the bottom out. You can also use the jack handle to put it on here and tighten it.
Right there, it's nice and tight. Now the vehicle can be pulled up onto a flatbed using this hook. Now, the vehicle towed from the front. Use that flat bladed screwdriver. Just carefully pry open this little door. I'm using the towel to not damage the paint. Just get your finger under there. Just pop it out. This little tether hold in place. Take the towing eye and go right into the opening. I'll thread in. Use the jack handles to tighten it. Don't have to over tighten it, but you do want it fairly tight. Right there feels good. Now, your vehicle can be pulled up from the flatbed from the front.
