Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
Okay, so you hop in your Volvo and go to turn on the key, and you can see that actually there is really no power whatsoever in this vehicle. Turn the key: nothing. Okay, the battery is basically dead in this.
You get out, and you open up your hood. The first thing you do is look for a battery, and you won't see a battery. The battery is actually located in the back. But if you want to jump-start your Volvo, there is a little compartment right here. Pull up, you see a couple of cables hooked into a terminal right there. There is where you will want to hook a positive terminal, or a jumper cable from a vehicle's positive terminal.
Then you can just hook the negative one right onto the body of the car right here. We're going to turn on our battery pack. You're going to hear some beeps and chimes, which is good. Turn our key on, see a lot of lights, and it starts up. Okay, so we will turn off this battery pack. You can hear that the fan goes off and the battery in this vehicle is pretty dead. Unhook it from here.
Then, if you want to replace the battery, or an alternative place to jump it, go right back here and open up your rear hatch area. Open up this compartment. Take these straps off, they slide up, and off. Then pull up here. Fold that, just stand it up right there. And you can see here is your battery right here.
You can do the same thing here. Hook that battery pack up on there, or you hook some jumper cables from another car. Positive, right here. Again, turn our battery pack on: the same thing. We get lights, which is always good. And then it starts right up.
Going to shut this off. If you are wondering how to change your battery, you need a 10mm wrench, or maybe this is a 9mm bolt. You loosen that up. This whole terminal comes right up off. Same thing over here at the negative side. Then you have a 13mm bolt right down here. Remove that bolt with a 13mm wrench, or with a socket and ratchet. Then the battery will lift out and you can put your new one in by reversing the procedure.
