Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall a front door panel on this 2003 Ford Focus. We're going to show you the driver side, but the passenger side is pretty much the same procedure. Tools you'll need include a small and regular size flat blade screwdriver, T20 Torx driver, and a 7mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
On this door, first at the top corner, you want to pull your trim out. It should pull. This already comes off,. You pull out, and then it pulls back and off. Then you can disconnect this. Use your small screwdriver, and then you actually kind of just pry right in here on this side of the connection and pull it out. I'm just going to speed it up here with those screws, use a T20 Torx bit so use your T20 Torx bit and remove all of them. You'll want to pry this off. It's easiest to get right here in the back, pry that out, and it comes right off. Go ahead with a 7mm socket with an extension and ratchet (a ¼ mm socket actually works as well) and remove these two bolts. If you notice, I said a 1/4mm, and that's actually a quarter inch socket works just as well as the 7mm socket.
Now, this panel, actually, reach right in here and pull firmly, and here the same thing. Pull firmly and pull this panel out. Then this disconnects. There's a little tab that's back behind the wires. Push that tab down and pull that out. The tab is actually right here on the back. Push this down. Do the same thing over here. It's a couple of harnesses. They just have tabs you press with your thumb and pull out. Okay, disconnected. Now you can just take your panel, pull it out, go up, and it comes off.
To reinstall the door panel, just make sure this harness is through and this harness is up. You're going to have to have the door panel up. Get it onto the window ledge and bring it down. Reconnect our speaker. Pull this up and out, and it goes through, reconnects there. Make sure that this stays in behind. Put it on the edge first, press it forward and into place. This panel should be three connectors. Reach down the door, and bring them up through. Reconnect these two outer ones first.
Next is this lead. Make sure it's nice and free. Connect it and clip it in on the backside. Bring this back over the door handle and that goes in. I'm going to fast-forward as I take those two 7mm bolts, reinsert them into that door pull, and tighten them up. Then put the trim panel and snap it back into place.
You want to put the top in first and then snap the bottom into place. Continue that speed as I just take the seven. There's seven T20 screws: one goes in the door handle, the rest go around the perimeter of the door panel, so put those in and tighten them up. Last, but not least, put the little trim panel over the screw in the door handle.
