Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the rear door panel on this 2001 Toyota Sequoia. It's the same as any '01 to '04. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screwdriver, a flat blade screwdriver, both a regular size and a smaller one, and you'll need either a door panel clip tool or a putty knife.
Start with a flat blade screwdriver. You're going to pry out the front of your courtesy light, unplug it, and there's a little tab right there. Same thing here with your switch plate. Right under the front of it, pry up, eventually it pops, and pull your ashtray up and out. This comes out, has a little connection, just a tab, disconnect that, pry up here. Use a smaller screwdriver for the little trap door behind your door handle, pull that out. Phillips screwdriver, remove this screw, and remove this screw in here. There's a Phillips screw back in here. On the back, there are two little pins, just take your Phillips screwdriver, push the center of the pin in, and pull the clip out.
Now take a door panel clip tool and start in the front here. Put it underneath, slide it up until you feel a click, pull it out. I'll fast-forward here as I continue around the door. You use a door panel clip tool, or if you just have a household putty knife, that will work as well. That clip right here is for my courtesy light. It just slides right in there. There goes my screw from the door pull. Take a screwdriver, pry up on the top of the door lock knob, and on the bottom there, and this bezel comes off. And then the door panel lifts up and off.
A lot of my clips didn't come out, so I'll just use needle nose pliers and pull these clips out. These just go right back into the door panel. Once you've completed your project inside the door, put the door panel on, push it against the window, and slide it down, make sure it's hooked on at the top.
Down here, make sure the wire for your courtesy light pokes through, and make sure that your power window switch wire is through. Then you can just hit the clips back into place all the way around. Put this back in place, try and slide it back, push it in. Put our courtesy light back in, plug it in, push it in place. Power window switch, plug it in, lock it down in place. Put the ashtray back in place. Put this Phillips screw back in. This Phillips screw, carefully, got it right in. Put that back on. These little clips, push them back up through. Insert, and then push the middle to lock.
