What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace the ambient air temp sensor on this 2015 Chevy Silverado. If you need parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description and head over to 1AAuto.com.
We want to take this cover off. We have 12 push-pins to take off. I'm just going to use this trim tool to remove these. We sell this trim tool at 1AAuto.com. Now we got them all of--just grab the panel and slide it off.
Now I want to take these four bolts out. I'm going to use a 10 millimeter socket and a ratchet. We need to take this panel off, so I'm going to use a 7 millimeter socket and a ratchet to take this screw out. This bolt that goes up right here, just going to use the 7 millimeter socket. I'm going to use an extension so that I can access it and a ratchet. Take both of those screws out for the other side.
Now we need to pull this panel off. I'm just going to use a little pry bar to get underneath here and pry this out. There's some clips that are held in right there, so just be careful. Try not to break them. That's clipped in right there and right there. That actually came out pretty easily. Pull it forward.
Now it's clipped in right here on the front. I'm going to release the clips from underneath, so I'm going to grab this from the outside of this trim piece and then from the inside, I want to release it. There's clips right here, so I'm just going to use a trim tool. There's one back here. Once you get the first one out, the other ones come out pretty easily. Just try to pull from outside the vehicle. Should be able to grab it and just slide it out, just like that.
I'm going to take these four bolts out of the vehicle. They're right in front of the grille. I'm using a 10 millimeter socket extension and a ratchet. There's another one over here. I'm going to grab the grille, slide it up, and pull it off.
Just going to take a screwdriver. There's this little push clip right here, and there's three of them, so just go around the sensor. Push those through. Now, this bar is bent. On your vehicle, the bar probably won't be bent and it'll be straighter, but pull that out. Then there's a little lock right here. Pull this lock out, or at least back a little bit, just like that. Once you do that, you can push down on the tab, disconnect the connector.
Now I can take this sensor. Connect it to the connector, and then push down on that lock tab to the sensor. Come back to the back of this bracket. From the back side, push it through.
Now, we're going to take the grille. Gently line everything up. Make sure the wiring harness goes through there. There's a little pin right here. Line that up with that bracket. There's a couple of push pins right there. Push those in right there.
Right now we're going to take these four screws up top, the bolts. Fit these all in up here. Before I tighten those up, I'm going to install the bolts down here. There's four bolts that go in here. One here, here, there, and there. Just using a 10 millimeter socket and an extension, and then I'm going to use a ratchet. Now I'm going to tighten all these bottom bolts, and then I'll tighten the same ones on top.
Next I'm just going to take this bumper trim, line this up in the front. Get it centered, the front like that. We come over to the side. Push this side in. Then we'll do the same with the other side. There we go.
Take this screw, get this screw started, and then there's another screw that goes through here. Once those are started, take that 7 millimeter socket and a ratchet, tighten these down. Do the same for the other side.
Take this panel. It's going to slide in up top. We'll take all these push pins and install them.
