Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the battery on this 2002 Ford Escape. The only items you'll need for this are an 8mm and a 10mm socket and ratchet.
Start off by loosening up the battery cables with an 8mm socket and ratchet. Then just pull the cables free and set them aside. You want to make sure you remove your negative first, then the positive cable. We're just going to spray these two 10mm nuts with some penetrating oil. Then remove those. Now remove this brace and then pull the batter up and out.
Take your new battery and lower it down into place. Then replace that brace. Then two 10mm nuts that hold it there. Just tighten those up. You want to go back and forth so it tightens up evenly. Then using your ratchet, just tighten them up. Now, put your cables back into place. Then tighten those up with your 8mm socket and ratchet. I'll just fast-forward as Mike does this. Then replace the negative battery cable and tighten that up as well.
