Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor and fan in your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 8mm socket; ratchet.
Your blower motor is located below the passenger side of the dashboard, just behind the glove box. Disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the three eight millimeter bolts. There's one in the back here that you're not going to be able to see. We're going to use an eight millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Remove the blower motor from the HVAC box.
Here we have our old part that we removed from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, we have the exact same size fan cage here, as well as the same base and mounting locations, same motor, and the same two pin connector on the bottom. What can happen sometimes is the motors wear out and either won't operate, or they'll be loud, either from a bad motor or this fan becoming out of balance and humming. It may work intermittently. It could come on and off as you go over bumps, or if you give it a good hit on the bottom. It could shock it awake and get it to spin again. While these things may only be minor annoyance if they're working intermittently, this part is very simple to change. It will get your heat or A/C blowing correctly and quietly, just like it should.
Install your new blower motor into the HVAC box. Reinstall the three bolts. Tighten the bolts up with your eight millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Reconnect the electrical connector.
