Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor resistor in this 2005 GMC Savana, same as any 1996 to present Savana, as well as the Chevy Express. The blower motor resistor, when it goes bad, you'll start losing speeds on your blower. For example, you might have speed one and four, but not two and three. It's pretty easy. All you need is a 7/32 inch socket and a ratchet.
The first thing you want to do, is you can see there's a connector right here, and, as you follow these wires, there's another connector right back here. What you want to do, is you want to unplug both of those so just pry up on the tab, pull the connector out, and then, you want to do the same thing on the other connector. Just unhook the wires from that little hook, up top, there, and pull them down and set it aside. You can see there are two 7/32 inch bolts and we'll just fast forward as he removes those. Once the bolts are removed, you can just pull the resistor right out.
To install the new one, you just want to push the resistor down into place and replace those two 7/32 inch bolts. You can see, he just tightens them by hand, first, and then, using the socket and ratchet, he tightens them up. Now you just want to connect those connectors. Make sure you put the red and black wire back up on that hook, and the connectors just push right in and you're all set.
