Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace or in the case of this vehicle, install a cabin air filter, the cabin dust and pollen filter. It's a pretty easy operation and should be about the same for any 2001 to 2006 Hyundai Elantra. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screwdriver and probably a flashlight.
I'm opening the glove box and I'm going to remove two stops for the glove box: one on the left side and one on the right side. I'm going to do that by pushing from the outside in and sliding back. You're going to have to play with the glove box a little bit to do it. There's the left side. The right side is the same way. Go a little bit up, push it in from the outside, pull it back and through its hole. Retractor, you pull through and then let it go through to the outside.
I'm pulling aside the protected padding on the top where there's a Phillips head screw and on the bottom, where there's another Phillips head screw. I'm just hitting fast forward a little bit as we remove those two screws. I've got two clips here: one on the left and one on the right. You're going to pull down on them and find no cabin air filter.
We're not sure why there wasn't a cabin filter in here to begin with. Maybe it's just the trim level of the vehicle. Either way, we're going to put our new 1A Auto cabin filter in and we're going to do it with the arrow pointing down. Air flow is down. Slide it all the way in. Take the cover and with the tabs pointing up, insert them into the housing and lock it into place.
I'm re-installing the bracket and pulling the retractor back down, I'm going to hold it tight. I'm playing with the glove box here, I'm going to feed it back through the hole that it came out of just like that. Then, I'm going to put the stops back in by pushing them through, all the way until they snap.
