Open the glove box. Release these clips here. Those are the stoppers holding the glove box from coming down. There's one on each side. You can also go on the other side. The tabs, it's helpful if you can push them in. Lower the glove box down.
If you've never had the cabin air filter out before, there might be a plastic bar here. That's from the factory. It just needs to be cut with some side cutters and removed, just like this one has been. There is a Phillips head screw, and an 8mm nut on each side. You'll have to remove those to pull this bar out, so we can get to this access door for the cabin air filter.
I'm going to start with the 8mm nuts. Using a socket extension so I can reach it. You can either use a Phillips head screwdriver, but I'm using a socket that has a Phillips head bit in it. After removing this 8mm bolts on each side, and the two Phillips head screws, there are two screws on either side, actually 8mm bolts. There are two 8mm bolts on either side holding the glove box up. The glove box needs to come down.
This screw is hard to get to, because of this trim. I'm going to go underneath with my 8mm socket and remove this bolt. And then I'm going to lower the glove box down and this bar down, so I can get this cover off for the cabin filter. So, the screw is up here. You might kind of have to feel for it. It's an 8mm head. I'm going to use my 8mm socket. See if I can get it out with my fingers now. It's loose. Now, I'm going to lower the glove box. Careful, because it's loose on this hinge. Just let it down gently, so you don't break this other hinge. I'm going to have to slide this metal bar out from between the dashboard classics, and the metal mount that's behind it. Slide it down, just like that. Pry them out a little bit.
There's a tab under here. We're going to pull up, open the door, and pull the air filter out. There's an arrow in the direction of airflow. On the filter, there's also an arrow in the direction of airflow. You want the arrows going the same direction. Reinstall it. Slide it back in. There's a hook on the top. It says there on the top part. Then I click down the top first. Lock it in place. Put the bar up. And lift the glove box back up.
And then, I will lock it to find the hinge in the hole here to put your 8mm screw back in. Reinstall the small 8mm bolts. I'm going to switch to my Phillips head bit to install the Phillips head screws.
Lift the glove box back into place. I'm going to take our stoppers, they're going to have to go beyond this. Push this up in here. Push it through the opening. It's got a little bit of a gap here, so it's going to go up and then around, and then it'll snap in. That's one side. We're going to do the other side. Now the glove box won't fall down. Job's complete.
