Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To get to the cabin air filter on this vehicle, it's actually up inside the center console. I've already taken out the floor mat so I can get my fingers under here. I'm going to take this panel off. It's just clipped into place. I'll reach up and unclip it. Just like that. Work my fingers around it. Let's see. Just like that. It should slide out underneath the center console.
There's a couple of clips over here, too, so it's clipped in there, there, here, and over here, but that clip stayed in place. I'll work on getting that clip out afterwards. We're going to slide this out of the way. That cabin air filter is way up here in the center console. You can just see the bottom part of the door, and there's one clip here, so the top is a pin or notch that feeds into it, but this actually had a release on the bottom part. Pull it up and actually the door will come right out. I'll put that aside. I can just see the filter. You're going to have to, kind of, squish your fingers in there and grab it. Let me just squish it to get it to come out. It's pretty soft and flexible. You just have to work at it to get it out.
Here we go. We're pulling it out, and you want to get out of there because you're probably going to dump a bunch of dirt and debris on your head. This one's not too dirty, but it does have a bunch of garbage in it, so it is time to change it. You change these once a year, every 12,000 miles. I'm going to get in here and vacuum out all this stuff and replace the cabin filter with a nice clean one.
Here's the direction of flow to this filter. The arrow, when you install it, needs to point to the back of the car. Then you can see, so the door that this goes into is quite a bit smaller than the filter and that's why you have to, kind of, just squish it down to get it in there.
I'm going go up in there and install it. You kind of slide it up. I'm going to get the top kind of wedged into the opening. It's very hard to see what I'm doing, so I'm trying my best to describe it. I'll just squish that in and just work it in there and slide it into place. All right.
Once it gets in there, it will spring back to its shape. You can install the door, so catch this top tab, just kind of slide it up on the opening, catch it in place, and then lock it in. The cabin filter is replaced. Now, I want to get this clip out. I'm going to use this clip tool and just pry it out so I can reuse it. It's close to the plastic that it's clipped into.
I'm going to do my best to pry it out. There it is. Just pull that clip out so you can put that clip back into the trim and then reinstall the trim panel. I'm going to put that clip back in place. It slides right here. All right. Now, I'm going to reinstall this panel. See the line? This center console was over it. I'm just going to slide it up and into place. It's kind of flexible. Get it in there. All right. Bring this back this way. It's going to hit those two clips there. Right there. I like to hold it. I'll find this one here. That snaps into place. Then find this one here. All right. That's clipped back into place. Put our floor mat back in. The cabin filter is changed.
