Here are the items you'll need for this repair: trim tools from 1AAuto.com
This trim bezel around your shifter can get dirty. You can see ours is all tarnished and scratched up here. The rest of our interior looks really nice, so it's a shame to have this nice, chrome center piece all beaten up like that. Fortunately, using only the trim removal tool available from 1AAuto.com we can pop this out and replace it with an OE one that looks great. Simply pry underneath from the top of the shifter over to the edge, pop it up, and then just work your way around it to release all the clips. Out comes the cover.
Now we'll take an interior cleaning wipe since we have this out of the way. There's all kinds of dirt and stuff that falls down in here that you can't reach normally. We'll get that all nice and clean since it's out of our way and we can polish everything up.
Here we have our old part that we removed from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these parts are the exact same size and shape. We have the exact same installation tabs all the way around. It's got the nice, little insulator pads on the bottom to keep it from vibrating and making noise. However, our new one is nice and clean and shiny, and our old one is all tarnished and beat up.
With our new part from 1AAuto, we'll simply lay it in. The top two tabs here, the two that are right next to each other, go in the top left corner, so we'll start there. Snap it into place. Wipe our fingerprints off of it. Now our center console and shifter looks good as new.
