Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we're going to show you how to replace the radiator fan on this 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. It's the same part and similar process on these Jettas from 2005 to 2007. The items that you'll need for this is a new radiator fan from 1AAuto.com, T25 and T30 Torx driver, and jack and jack stands.
Underneath the front of your, car on the splash guard, there's a series of T25 screws. We'll fast forward as Mike removes all of those. Push the two tabs on the splash guard and it pulls free.
At the bottom of your radiator there's a clip right here. Just pry up the top with a flat blade screwdriver. Then you want to slide this harness down and out of the clip. Then using a flat blade screwdriver, just insert it into the slot on the back of the harness and pry out and pull the harness free. At the top of your radiator there are two T30 screws, one on that side and on in the same spot on the other side in here. We'll just fast forward as Mike removes those. On the bottom of the radiator there are two more T30 screws, one on either side. Again we'll fast forward. Once those are removed you can just maneuver the radiator fan down and out.
On the bottom is the old radiator fan. Above it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and will fit exactly the same. We do have to transfer some things over to the new radiator fan. Using some pliers just push these teeth through on the clips and pull them free. Just slide that off the harness. Now clip those two clips into place on the new radiator fan. For this one you want to slide it onto the harness, then clip it down into place.
Now take your new radiator fan and feed it up into place and just pull out the hoses and that front splash guard, and just work the fan up. Make sure that you pull down that front shroud. Once you get it into place, replace those two lower screws and then just tighten those up. Reconnect this harness and then reclip the hose into that clip. Then back up top, replace the two upper screws and tighten those up. Push the larger tabs up and over and then slide the splash guard into place. Then just replace those T25 screws and tighten them up. Thanks for tuning in.
