Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a battery in a 2008 Jeep Liberty. It's pretty much the same operation for 2003 through 2010.You'll need a socket wrench, a 10mm socket, and an extension.
Starting with the negative terminal, I'm going to use a 10mm socket and socket wrench to remove/loosen up on the negative terminal, and then I'm going to go ahead, set that aside, and do the same for the positive terminal, pulling off that little cover there as well.
Down next to the battery, you'll find the battery hold down. That's a 10mm as well. I'm using a socket wrench with a 10mm socket and an extension to get down to that bolt, and I'll fast-forward as I pull the bolt and the hold down out. Here, I'm pulling out that hold down. Pull the battery up a little bit, and you can pull the battery insulation on out, and that'll just give you a little bit more room. So, once you get that out of the way, set it aside, and then pull the battery right up and out.
Going back in with the battery, I've got the insulation in and around it. I think it's just going to be a little bit easier. Make sure both of the terminals are out of the way so they don't get caught, or interfere with you getting the battery down inside of there.
Then push it back as far as you can to make room for the battery hold down that we're going to install. Put the battery hold down with the step towards the battery. Go ahead and put that back in again, and that's a 10mm. Go ahead and tighten that back up. I'll fast-forward as I do that. Reinstall the battery cables at the positive first, and then move on to the negative.
