Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the battery in a 2007 Pontiac G6. It should be fundamentally the same for model year 2005 through 2010. You'll need an 8mm socket and socket wrench, and a 13mm socket and extension.
Standing in front of the car on the right-hand side of the engine is the battery cover. It's got locking tabs on the corners that you'll need to locate. Pull up on the tabs and pull the battery cover up and out. An 8mm socket and socket wrench to remove the negative battery terminal first, and once I've got that off, I'll place it to the side and go ahead and remove the 8mm for the positive terminal and pull that aside as well.
I'm using a 13mm socket and an extension and socket wrench to remove the battery hold down bracket. I'm unscrewing the battery hold down bracket, and once that's up and out of the way, I'll be able to pull the battery out. Here I'm using Shop-Vac to vacuum out the battery tray and make sure it's all clean. Make sure the lip on the battery goes under the tab in the battery box.
To reinstall the battery, put the tab underneath the lip on the battery box. Then take your battery hold down and install that. I'm going to fast-forward while I tighten that battery hold down. I'm reinstalling the positive side of the battery first. Once that's tight, I'm going to move over to the negative side. Fast-forward through tightening that. Installing the battery cover, lining up the clips, and pressing down.
