Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the rear door weather stripping on this 2002 Chevy Suburban. We show you on the passenger side, but the driver's side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this are new weather stripping from 1aauto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, and wire cutters.
Using your flat blade screwdriver, pry up this panel and set it aside. Lift up the weather stripping at the seam and start pulling it out from around the door.
On the left, is the old weather stripping. On the right, is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see it's identical and it's going to fit exactly the same. Start pushing the weather stripping down around the seam and then use your flat blade screwdriver to pry back the panel while you tuck it in behind it. We'll fast forward as Don does this. When you get to this handle it gets a little more difficult. The handle's on there pretty good so what you have to do is pull back as far as you can on the handle, while pushing the weather stripping in underneath and just keep feeding it underneath until you get it to push in. When it does finally push in, you'll both feel and hear it go into place. Now that he's got it started we're going to fast forward as he does the rest of it and continue to fast forward as he goes down around the panel here and down to the bottom. You're going to have a little bit of extra most likely. Use some wire cutters to cut that extra off. Then push that end down into place.
Some of the clips from this panel may have stayed in here and the best way to remove them is to push them down through the slot and then push them out the other side. Set them aside and if they get bent just open them back up again with the flat blade screwdriver and then you want to push them onto these tabs. Once they're all back into place just push that panel back down and you're all set.
