Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years of experience repairing and restoring cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.

In this video, we'll be replacing the EGR valve on this '95 Accord with a V6, same as any '94 to '97 Accord and other V6 Honda Acura models. Tools you'll need are a 12mm socket with a ratchet and an extension and also a razor blade or something else to clean the gasket material off the engine.

Okay, on this Honda Accord 6 cylinder, you can see our EGR valve is right here and you remove it pretty simply enough with a couple of bolts. You can see one bolt over there, and one bolt is right there. First thing is there's an attachment here. You just press down on this and pull it off. These bolts are 12mm and with 3/8 tool like this, you just put the socket down on there and break the nut loose. It will come off pretty easily. Just be careful when you're removing a nut. Put a finger down under there and loosen that. It appears to be off and just kind of follow up with your finger and keep it right in the socket.

Next, there is a vacuum hose that you can just kind of twist a little bit and then pull that off and as long as you've gotten your bolt loose, it's easy right off, it will come up and right off. Next, what you want to do is you want to use the razor blade and scrape off all these gasket material so you can clean up that mounting surface. Okay, here you can see the original EGR valve. Here's the new one from 1A Auto. See, the connector should be all the same. Obviously the mount pad is all the same. The 1A Auto, the new one comes with the gasket and everything. We'll tighten these both up. This EGR is working fine with the car so I'm going to clean up and I have a new gasket and I'll ring up the old one in there.

A lot of time what happens is this is working on extreme environment, heat exhaust and they will get stuck especially on an older car that might seat for a while or something like that. The EGR valve can be stuck under the check engine light. I got my gasket cleaned up in here, cleaned off of the EGR valve. I got my new gasket down and I'll put the valve on to make sure that gasket lines up. It goes along the hole. It's pretty easy. Okay, I'll thread on my first bolt, I got my second bolt in my socket here. I'll get that down and in and push it down and thread it on there. Okay, now I can start tightening up each bolt to be tightened up to about 30 to 35 foot pounds. I'll put my backing bolt first and then my harness connection and we're all set.
