Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to check and replace the air filter in your 2006 Cadillac CTS. This information is accurate for the 2.8 L engine, maybe similar to others. The only items you'll need for this repair are a new air filter and a number two Phillips heads screwdriver.

Open your hood, remove these two Phillip head screws. These screws can also be removed with a flat blade if necessary, but I find the Phillip's to be easier. Open the air filter housing, remove the old air filter from the vehicle.

Here we have our new air filter and the one we removed from our vehicle. You can see this one is pretty dirty. The reason you want to replace your air filters regularly is because when they get all built up with dirt like this,it restrict air flow to the engine, which can create a loss in horsepower and throttle response, as well as fuel economy. To run this dirty old air filter, is the equivalent of your vehicle trying to breath through a straw. This nice new air filter has no punctures and it's clear of dirt and debris. It's going to open up that airway for our vehicle and allow it to breath correctly, run right, and get proper power and fuel economy.

Reinstall your air filter into the air box or replace it. Now you can't see them, but when your air box is in place, there are two tabs on the bottom that you'll feel lock in. Line up your screws, tighten them back down. Just close them down until they're tight – no need to crank them down too hard, because this is just plastic and you will cause it to crack. Close your hood and you're good to go.
