Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to be working with our 2001 Ford Ranger. We're going to be removing and reinstalling our fog light switch. If you like this video please click subscribe. We have a ton more information on this truck, as well as many other makes and models, and if you need any parts for your vehicle, follow the link in the description over to 1AAuto.com. Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 7mm socket and ratchet, small flatblade screwdriver, and a Philips screwdriver.
Remove the two 7mm screws on the center trim bezel below the radio. We're going to use a small flat blade screwdriver with some tape on it to keep from marring our dash surface. Pull out on this center trim panel. Reach back and disconnect all of the electrical connectors. The antenna pops right back and out. This last connector for the four wheel drive selector, is going to have to be pried up on with our flat blade screwdriver.
With the center dash panel removed, the radio can be simply slid out by locating the two spring retainers on the sides. Simply push down and push the radio out. Radio slides right out of the panel. With the radio removed we can now more easily access, and remove our fog light switch.
Remove the two Phillips head screws on the fog light switch bracket. Remove the bracket and switch. To replace the switch itself we'll have to carefully pry up on these plastic brackets with a small flat blade screwdriver, while gently pushing out on the switch, remove the switch from the panel.
Reinstall the switch into the switch panel. Reinstall the panel into the back side of the center dash. Reinstall your Phillips head screws. Reinstall the radio into the slot. Lift the dash up, so the radio locks into place.
Now our panel's ready to go back into our vehicle. Reconnect the four wheel drive selector connector. Reconnect the cigarette lighter. There are two wires there. Reconnect the radio harness, the antenna, the fog light switch, and the AC power outlet connector. Push the center panel back into place. Then reinstall the two, 7mm screws at the bottom of the panel.
