Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the four wheel drive solenoid on a 2004 Ford F150. You're going to need a new solenoid from 1A Auto and a flat pocket screwdriver.
A lot of times on these F150's, the solenoid will go bad and then it actually will make the hub activators or actuators go bad. We'll show you . if you check out or other videos, you'll see how to replace the hub actuators as well. A four wheel drive vacuum solenoid is against the firewall back behind the battery. Use a pocket screwdriver to push in the clip and pull it up out of the way. Remove the two vacuum hoses. Use the flat head screwdriver again to pry up on the harness connector. Slide it off.
I've got the old part and identical replacement part from 1A Auto. I'm putting on the vacuum lines. Once you got those vacuum lines on, go ahead and push it back on to its bracket, so that it clips right back in, which will make reinstalling the connector harness to it that much easier. Go ahead and plug it back in.
