I'm gonna remove the wheel and use a 21-millimeter socket to take the lug nuts off. Now I'm gonna remove the wheel. Now I'm gonna take these two caliper bolts out. I'm gonna use a 14-millimeter wrench and 17-millimeter wrench to hold the stud from spinning and take those out. Now I'll just grab the caliper, might have to wiggle it a little, little bit and slide it out. And I'm gonna use a brake caliper hanger and just hang it from the coil spring, make sure there's no tension on the brake hose.
Now I'm gonna take these springs out right here, just use some needle-nose pliers. They just slide straight out. And I'll use a screwdriver and just pry the pads out. Sometimes these fall right out but these are stuck a little bit. There we go.
Now I'm gonna take this bracket off. I'm gonna use a 17 millimeter-socket to take these two bolts out. I'll just grab the bracket and slide it off.
Now we're gonna remove the rotor. I'm gonna use a Phillips head screwdriver. There's two screws right here, just take those out. And you can use an impact driver if these are stuck in there. If the rotor's stuck on, just take a hammer and just tap in these areas. Just be careful not to hit the studs. And slide it off. Now I'm gonna take a wire brush and just clean any of the rust off the hub. You could use a die grinder also.
Now I'm gonna take the rotor, install it backwards first. Take some brake parts cleaner, wash it down, wipe it with a rag, and flip the rotor over. Now you wanna line up these holes with those threaded holes and do the same. Wash it down. And I'll take the screws, install the screws and snug them down. You don't have to tighten them too tight, just snug.
Now we're gonna clean up the caliper bracket. Just take a screwdriver. Just get it underneath here. Take a wire brush and just clean this area up and take some brake caliper grease. Just put a thin coat, take the new anti-rattle clip or pad slide. Slide that in position and just another thin coat of grease. Then you can do the same on the other side.
Now we're gonna take these slide pins out. Just grab that, take a little brake parts cleaner and a rag. Wipe it down. If it's extremely dirty or rusty, you wanna spray some brake parts cleaner in there and clean that up. This one's not too bad. And take some grease, brake caliper grease, and slide it back in. Make sure it seals and we'll do the same with that one.
Now we'll slide this bracket in position. Take the bolts, get those started. And now we're gonna torque these bolts to 70 foot-pounds.
Now I'll take the brake pads. Now the pad with the squealer on it, or the warning indicator, it's gonna go on the inside towards the top. So we'll slide that in position in there. And then the one without the squealer is gonna go on the outside. Get that one to line up. There we go.
Now we'll take these springs and slide those in position, just like that. Those are just gonna stay like that.
Now we can take the hanger, the brake caliper hanger off. We're going to compress the piston back. You're gonna need a brake caliper piston tool. Just slide this in position and just tighten it slowly. That's just gonna compress the piston back into the caliper. It's gonna push brake fluid through the hoses through the brake lines and back into the master cylinder. Just do this nice and slow. And it's all the way down. Loosen up the tool and remove it. Then take the brake caliper and just slide it over the brake pads.
Now install the caliper bolts. And we're gonna torque these bolts to 23 foot-pounds.
Now reinstall the wheel and put the lug nuts on. Now I'm gonna torque these lug nuts to 80 foot-pounds in a star pattern so that I tighten it down so it tightens the wheel down evenly. Now I'll just go around again, double check.
And now we're gonna pump the brake pedal. There is gonna be an air gap between the brake caliper piston and the brake pads so pump up the brake pedal a couple of times, and that's good.
And now we're gonna check the brake fluid level at the master cylinder reservoir. And there's a max line right on the side right here. Just make sure the fluid's up to that line, and that looks good. There's a min line down here, so adjust accordingly.
