How to Replace Front Door Latch Cable 2000-07 Volvo V70

How to replace the front door latch cable on 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 Volvo V70

  1. step 1 :Removing the Front Door Panel
    • Raise the window
    • Pry off the sail panel behind the mirror
    • Pry off the trim cover from the door pull
    • Remove the six door panel clips with a small flat blade screwdriver
    • Remove the mounting screws from the door pull with a T25 Torx screwdriver
    • Grab the door panel and lift it up
    • Disconnect the interior door handle cable
    • Disconnect the speaker wiring harness
    • Disconnect the master window switch wiring harnesses
  2. step 2 :Removing the Outside Door Handle
    • Remove the 10mm mounting screws from the outside door handle
    • Unclip the lock cylinder rod
    • Pry out the outside door handle with a trim tool
    • Remove the outside door handle from the door handle rod
    • Remove the mounting piece
  3. step 3 :Removing the Front Door Latch
    • Remove the three T30 Torx bolts from the front door latch
    • Unclip the lock rod from the latch
    • Remove the lock rod
    • Drill out the rivets from the window guide with a drill bit the size of the inside diameter of the rivet
    • Tap out the rivets with a hammer and chisel
    • Pull the window guide to the side
    • Remove the front door latch
    • Disconnect the door latch wiring harness
  4. step 4 :Removing the Front Door Latch Cable
    • Push the tab on the front door latch cable with a small screwdriver
    • Unhook the cable from the front door latch
  5. step 5 :Installing the Front Door Latch Cable
    • Hook the cable into the front door latch
    • Press the cable into the door latch
  6. step 6 :Installing the Front Door Latch
    • Insert the door latch into place
    • Tighten the three T30 bolts to the front door latch by hand
    • Connect the wiring harness to the door latch
    • Line up the window guide to the rivet holes on the door
    • Attach rivets to the window guide with a rivet gun
    • Tighten the three T30 bolts to the front door latch
    • Connect the door lock to the front door latch
    • Clip the door lock on
  7. step 7 :Installing the Outside Door Handle
    • Connect the door lock cylinder lock to the outside door handle
    • Connect the door handle rod to the outside door handle
    • Press the outside door handle into place
    • Insert the upper part of the metal bracket behind the door handle spring and the lower part into the black rubber
    • Tighten the 10mm bolts to the outside door handle
  8. step 8 :Installing the Front Door Panel
    • Connect the window switch connectors
    • Connect the interior door handle cable
    • Connect the speaker wiring harness
    • Push the door panel and pushing it back in place
    • Line up the door panel with the door
    • Push in the six door panel clips
    • Tighten the T25 screw to the door panel
    • Press the T25 trim cover into the door pull
    • Press the sail panel on
