Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

On this video, we're going to show you how to replace the front door upper rubber weather strip seal on a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The items you'll need for this repair are a new front door upper rubber weatherstrip seal from 1AAuto.com, as well as a T15 Torx socket, an extension, and a ratchet.

The upper weatherstrip seal is located along the top of the cab and runs from the bottom of the front door all they way along the top to the back door. There's a series of T15 Torx screws located behind the first flap of the rubber seal. If you fold it down, you can access them all the way down. Remove the rubber weatherstrip seal from the vehicle. You'll have to remove the screws from the upper rubber weatherstrip seal. Some of them came out while we were loosening them. Others get stuck behind the rubber. We'll have to transfer this plastic retainer from our old rubber weatherstrip seal to the new one. It simply peels right out of there.

Here, we have our new upper rubber weatherstrip seal from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these are the same part, both in length, height, and the actual construction of the flaps on the seal here. What this rubber door seal does is it goes along the top of your cab to help run water down and around your doors rather than allow it to pool up on top of the door seals themselves, which would cause water to fall on you every time you opened your door with water pooled up on it.

Reinstall the plastic backing into the upper rubber weatherstrip door seal. Try to pull that on there nice and tight so you don't end up with a lot of wrinkles. There’s an interlocking joint here. Now you're ready to reinstall your upper rubber weatherstrip door seal back onto the truck. Peel back the weatherstrip and start your T15 screws into the backing. You want to be sure that you don't miss any of the screw holes here as that can cause the upper rubber weatherstrip door seal to not seal properly against the cab and create water pooling over your door.

Make sure that your upper rubber weatherstrip door seal is firmly seated on the plastic backing. Make sure that your doors close properly. Check along the top edge to make sure that you have good contact. If your old seal was leaking, you can always run a hose along the top of the truck to make sure that there's no more water pooling up.
