In this video we're going to be working with our 1996 GMC Sierra. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your vehicle's front emblem. If you like this video, please click Subscribe. We have a ton more information on this and many other vehicles, and if you need this part for your truck you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com. Here are the items you'll need for this repair.
Remove the two 3/16” screws securing the headlight in. These come out of the top of the grille. We'll do that with a socket ratchet and extension. Remove the headlight from the vehicle and disconnect the headlight bulbs. Repeat these steps on the opposite side.
Remove the two 7mm bolts and the two Philips head screws at the top of the grille. To do this we use a 7mm or a 9/32” socket and ratchet, as well as a Philips head screw river. Once the hardware's out, release the grille and the clips on the bottom. You’ve just got to kind of work them out, and remove your grille from the truck.
In order to remove your old emblem you'll want to remove these four 13mm body nuts with a socket and ratchet. You could also use a 1/2" for this. Once you've got the body nuts removed, you can remove the emblem from your grille.
Install the badge into the grille. Install your four 13mm or 1/2" body nuts onto the studs. Tighten those down with a 13mm socket and ratchet.
Slide in the bottom tabs of the grille and lock them in place. Then reinstall the two 7mm screws in the top corners, as well as the two Philips heads in the center.
Reconnect your headlights. Reinstall them, and reinstall the 3/16” bolts. Repeat these steps on the opposite side.
