How to Replace Front Window Regulator 2000-06 Chevy Suburban

Watch this video to learn how to fix a slow or stuck window. The experts at 1A Auto will show you how to replace the window regulator in your 00-02 Chevy Suburban or Tahoe.

  1. step 1 :Removing the Door Panel
    • Pry up the window switch panel by hand
    • Disconnect the window switch wiring harnesses
    • Remove the bolts from the door pull
    • Remove the bolt at the bottom of the door panel
    • Pry off the mirror base trim piece by hand
    • Pry off the door handle trim piece with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Lift the door panel up and off
    • Pry off the courtesy light with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the door panel
    • Disconnect the door latch rod with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Remove the bolt from the door handle
    • Slide the door handle off
    • Carefully peel off the water shield
  2. step 2 :Removing the Window Regulator
    • Disconnect the window motor lead
    • Loosen the two bolts that hold the window to the regulator
    • Hold the window in place with painter's tape
    • Remove the bolts from the regulator
    • Pull the window regulator out through the door
  3. step 3 :Installing the Window Regulator
    • Insert one of the bolts into the window regulator
    • Push the regulator into the door
    • Hang the regulator by its bolt
    • Insert the bolts into the regulator
    • Connect the window motor lead
    • Connect the window switch wiring harness
    • Raise the window with the switch
    • Disconnect the window switch wiring harness
    • Remove the painter's tape from the window
    • Lower the window onto the regulator
    • Insert the two bolts that hold the window to the regulator
  4. step 4 :Reinstalling the Door Panel
    • Put the water shield into place
    • Connect the latch rod to the door handle
    • Slide the door handle on
    • Insert the bolt into the door handle
    • Connect the wiring harnesses to the door panel
    • Push the courtesy light into place
    • Lift the door panel into place
    • Push in the door panel clips
    • Push the switches into the door
    • Insert the bolts into the door pull
    • Insert the bolt at the bottom of the door panel
    • Slide on the door handle trim piece
    • Push on the mirror base trim piece
    • Connect the window switch wiring harnesses
    • Push in the window switch panel

Tools needed

  • Flat Blade Screwdriver

    8mm Socket

    Painter's Tape

    10mm Socket

    Ratchet
