Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the gas tank straps on this 2001 Ford Taurus. It's pretty much the same procedure for from the 1996 to 2006 Taurus, as well as the Mercury Sable. The tools you'll need for this is includes new fuel tank straps from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, a 13mm socket and ratchet, a pair of pliers, and jack and jack stands.
Raise the vehicle. Jack up the side of the fuel tank that you want to replace the fuel tank strap on first. We're going to do this on the passenger's side. There's a 13mm bolt right here that you want to remove once you have that stand up in place. We'll just fast-forward as Don removes that bolt.
Now pull the strap down, and on this side right here there's a little pin that you want to push up and feed out with a flat blade screwdriver. Once you can get a grip on it, use pliers to remove it. On the bottom is the old gas tank strap; above it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same.
Feed your new strap up into place, push that pin back in, and then pull the strap up into place and replace that 13mm bolt. We'll just fast-forward as Don tightens that out. Now lower that stand, repeat the process on the other side, and you're all set.
