Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the bulbs as well as replace the entire headlight assembly on this 2003 GMC Envoy XL. It's the same part and similar process on the regular Envoys made after the year 2002. We show on the passenger side, but the driver side is the same procedure. The items that you'll need for this include new headlights from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screw driver, and a pair of pliers.
Pull your hood release, pop your hood, and then reach under here, push up on the latch, and lift your hood. Support it, and then go over to the headlight that you want to service or replace and lift up on these two tabs. Our pulls up pretty easily, but if you do have some trouble pulling them up you can use a pair of pliers.
Once you pull them up you can slide your headlight out. Then using a flat blade screwdriver, pry out on this tab, disconnect the harness, and then twist this socket counterclockwise. Pull out.
Now, to service your bulbs for the headlight and high beam, you just pull off that boot, twist the bulb counterclockwise, and it pulls out. Then lift up on the tab and the harness, disconnect it, push your new bulb into place, twist it clockwise back into the light, and replace your boot.
This one is the same process, but if you have problems getting the boot off, just use a flat blade screwdriver and you can pry it off.
Now, to service these other two bulbs, you just pull the bulb out and push your new one in. On the left is the old headlight; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they are identical, and they'll fit exactly the same.
Twist these two sockets into your new headlight assembly, and then reconnect this harness and push the headlight back into place. Once you have it lined up, just push down these two tabs.
Now, if you have to adjust the angle of the lights, you just turn this counterclockwise to raise the light or clockwise to lower. Just to show you what the difference new headlights can make to your vehicle, here's the old headlights and here's the new ones. You can see it just makes the vehicle look a lot younger and newer. Again, old headlights and new headlights.
