In this video, I'm going to show you how to remove and replace the headlights on this 2006 Malibu sedan, same as the Malibu Maxx as well. I show you both replacing the entire headlight assembly, as well as just replacing the bulbs.
Maybe you've gotten into a little accident or something, or a rock took out one of your headlights, or maybe as you can see on this vehicle in the before, you want to take your kind of clouded, faded headlights and replace them with nice new headlights from 1A Auto you can see in this after picture. It only takes about ten minutes, or five or ten minutes per side. All's you need is a 10 mm wrench. Again, you can go from an old car looking like this, take a bunch of miles, and it looks like this.
With the hood open, it's pretty easy. There are two 10 mm bolts, one here and one here. We use a 10 mm wrench or a socket and ratchet. Now I'll just speed up here as I remove those two bolts. Now lift the light up and out. You got a connector right here. You pull back on this tab and disconnect it. If you're looking to replace bulbs, you just twist these covers right off. The bulbs are inside. You can twist and pull the bulb out. Then remove the harness, so you have to pry out all these kind of ears here. Pull the harness down and off. Then the re-installation is just the reverse. Same thing for the parking side marker, it just pulls out of the socket. Push it back in.
Here's the new light from 1A Auto. You can see how much more clear it is. The only thing you're going to want to do is on the back of your old one, there's a little clip right here. Pull it off, use a small screwdriver, kind of keep your thumb on it. Pull out. Take it off. Lay it aside. Get into our new headlight. Right down here push it on. Headlight down. Plug it in. There's two pins that go into holes right down here. Just make sure those go down in. The gasket fits all flush. We'll speed it up here again as I start those two 10 mm bolts in, and then tighten them up with the socket and ratchet.
