Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the headlights on this 2005 Ford Excursion. We show you on the passenger's side, but the driver's side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this includes new headlights from 1AAuto.com, a 7/32 socket, and a ratchet.
Start off by removing these four 7/32 screws. There are two up top, and there are two down here. It's kind of hard to see, but they're straight back. We'll just fast-forward as Don removes those four screws. Then I reach in behind the light, push the tab on the harness, and disconnect it. Now you can pull the headlight straight out. Just tilt it forward, push the tabs on either side of this harness, and disconnect it. Then push the tab underneath this harness and pull it free.
Now, to service your bulbs, for the main bulb, you just twist it counterclockwise and it pulls out. Then you twist your new one in clockwise. For this one, twist the socket out counterclockwise. The bulb pulls out, and you just push your new bulb straight in and twist the socket back in clockwise to lock it same thing with this smaller one.
On the left is the old headlight; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Connect your harnesses to your new headlight and push the headlight back into place. Now reach back and reconnect this harness. For these lower bolts, it helps to reach in through the wheel well here, and just hold them into place. Then tighten them with your socket and ratchet and an extension from the front. You do the same thing with the other lower bolt. We'll just fast-forward as Don tightens those up and then replaces the two up top and tightens those as well.
