How to Replace Heater Control Panel 1998-2012 Ford Ranger

This video shows you how to replace the heater control panel on your 98-12 Ford Ranger.

step 1 :Removing the Center Dash Panel
- Remove the two 7mm screws on the center trim bezel below the radio
- Pry out the center trim panel with a flat blade screwdriver wrapper in tape
- Disconnect all of the electrical connectors and antenna
- Pry the 4WD selector out with a flat balde screwdriver

step 2 :Removing the Heater Control Panel
- Remove the four 7mm bolts from the heater control panel
- Remove the panel from the dash
- Disconnect the wiring harnesses

step 3 :Installing the Heater Control Panel
- Connect the wiring harnesses
- Insert the heat control panel into the dash
- Tighten the four 7mm bolts to the panel

step 4 :Reinstalling the Center Dash Panel
- Reconnect the center dash connectors
- Insert the center panel into place
- Tighten the two 7mm screws to the center panel

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 7mm socket, ratchet, and a flat blade screwdriver.
Remove the two 7 millimeter screws on the center trim bezel below the radio. We use a small flat-blade screwdriver, with some tape on it to keep from marring our dash surface, to pry out on this center trim panel. Reach back and disconnect all of the electrical connectors. The antenna pops right back and out. This last connector for the four-wheel drive selector is going to have to be pried up on with our flat-blade screwdriver.
Remove the four 7 millimeter screws holding the heater control panel in place with a 7-millimeter socket and ratchet. Remove the panel from the dash. Remove the vacuum harness by pushing in on the tabs, pulling it out the same way you would with an electrical connector. You may have to pry out and up a little with a small, flat-blade screwdriver, being careful not to break the plastic tabs. Remove the vacuum harness. Pry out, on the end of the connector, here, and move that electrical connector. We'll lift up on this tab, remove the cables on the back of the hot and cold dial here. Again, prying up on this electrical connector, and again on the last connector. You can now remove the heater control panel from the vehicle.
Reconnect your electrical connectors: this cable harness here, another electrical connector, and the vacuum harness. Be sure these openings are free of any kind of debris or obstructions. Snap it back into place. Reinstall the heater control panel into the dash.
Reinstall your four 7 millimeter screws. Reconnect the four-wheel drive selector connector. Reconnect the cigarette lighter. Two wires there. Reconnect the radio harness, the antenna, the fog light switch, and the A/C power outlet connector. Push the center panel back into place. Then reinstall the two 7 millimeter screws at the bottom of the panel.
