Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the hood. We did this because we were doing some engine work on the car, so it made it easier to work. You'll need a 10mm socket and ratchet, a torque wrench for reassembly, flat head screwdriver, and a marker helps.

If you want to remove the hood to make it easier to work on your engine, start by unplugging the washer hose, and just disconnect it from the hood. Just twist and pull. This clip separates.

You put the hose through, push it together, and push it up and in. To remove it, just gently pry down and it'll come out.

To make sure that we have a good mark when we unbolt the hood, I'm just going to use a marker and just mark right where the hinge is bolted to the hood so we can line it up again. I'll do that on both sides.

To remove the hood, you just need to remove the two 10mm bolts that are on each side. As you're taking this one out, have somebody come over and help you by holding it. Once you remove the bolts, a small tap might be necessary to break it free.

Reinstall your hood onto the hinges. Start your four 10mm bolts finger tight. Find the marks left on your hood from where the hinges used to sit and align them before tightening your bolts.

The bolts are 10mm, but the layer of paint on them can mean you have to wiggle your socket on a little more. Repeat these steps on the opposite side.

Once your hood bolts are lined up and snug so the hood won't move, torque them to 13 foot-pounds. Close your hood carefully.

Check that you have nice even spacing between the fender and the hood on both sides, that there are no contact points or anything rubbing, and that the hood is seated firmly on the latch, and that the hood releases and goes up just as smooth.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
