In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall an ignition oil on this '97 Cadillac Deville. This vehicle has the 4.6 either Northstar, and this video is the same for any vehicle with that engine. The only tool you'll need is a 7/32 inch socket with ratchet and extension.

You can see on these engines, our coils are mounted right back here. There's one coil for each two cylinders, and you can see back here, they're all marked with the cylinders. The new ones from 1A will not have the cylinder numbers on them, but that doesn't really make a difference. What I like to do is, I replace them one at a time. Okay, so first thing you want to do is kind of twist the wire and then pull it off, so I put this one over here, and then I take this one, twist it, and pull it off, and then put it way over there, so I know this one, goes there, and that one, goes there.

Then I need a 7/32 inch socket with a ratchet extension for there, and then there's also another bolt right in between here, right there. Here's my 7/32 socket, extension, and a ratchet. Once you get these bolts out, the coil just lifts straight off, and out. This car has a very low mileage, so there's nothing wrong with the coils. I just wanted to take it off, put it back on to show you, so put the original back on. The 1A coils will bolt on there exactly the same. It fit just perfectly, but carefully put it down on, so you hit those tabs. I put one bolt down in, putting in the bolt down in carefully. I don't want to drop those. Now, remember from before, we put this one all the way over here, goes on to the one closer to the driver side, and this one here, goes right on there.
