Hi, I'm Mike Green, one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ years' experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly. That's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we're going to replace the ignition coil in this 2001 Ford Taurus. It has the 3.0 liter overhead valve motor. The only tool you'll need is a 7 mm socket and ratchet or wrench and a marker.
The coil is mounted right on top of the engine compartment, making it nice and easy to get to. (If you're thinking about changing your plug wires at the same time as your coil, that's fine, but what you'll want to do is make them separate operations you don't want to take your coil off and pull all the plug wires off and then not know where they go back.)
I'm going to mark them left to right: one (1) mark for the left one and two (2) marks for the middle one. I'm not going to mark the third one the one on the right. You can see that on the bottom side, they're going to hang down.
You press on the tab and pull the plug off. There's three 7 mm bolts one, two and three. Remove those.
Now your coil comes off just like that. Here's our original coil. New coil from 1A Auto. You can see it's going to mount and hook up the same. Mounting is just a reverse process pretty easy. Three screws and plug it in.
Replace our plug and then our wires one, two and three from left to right. When you put the wires on, shake them back and forth a little bit and push them down. Same thing up top one, two, and three.
We hope this helps you out. This video was brought to you by www.1AAuto.com your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free at 888-844-3393. We're the company that serves you on the internet and in person.
