Here are the items you'll need for this repair: small flat blade screwdriver
Normally, you'll be replacing hood struts because they failed and are failing to support the hood open. To make sure that you can work on these safely without risk of the hood falling on you while keeping both of your hands free, we recommend you find something to use as a hood prop. I've got this piece of pipe that I keep handy for quite a few things around the shop. A nice secure place to put your hood prop.
Using the small flat blade screwdriver pry up on the clip at the top of the hood strut here. You don't have to pry that all the way off, you just have to get it loose, and remove it from the ball socket. Now this one is a little different. You want to lay this flat, use that little flat blade to pry this slide all the way back. Once it's out you can simply rotate it off of that ball.
To reinstall your hood strut rotate it back on to the ball at the bottom, lay it nice and flat, slide that clip back over it. Make sure the top clip secure, and simply pop that right back over the ball on the hood. Make sure it's locked on there nice and tight, and repeat these steps on the opposite side. Once you've got two new hood struts supporting your hood properly go ahead and remove that prop you put in there, and you're good to go.
