How to remove and replace the key fob battery for an 08 Subaru Outback
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
In this video, we'll be removing and installing a key fob battery in a 2008 Subaru Outback key. So we're going to take the battery out of this key fob in this 2008 Subaru Outback. First thing you need is a really small Philips head screwdriver. We are going to take that Phillips head screw out. It's kind of hard to get. You're going to want to put a lot of pressure down and spin it out. There we go.
Next you're going to want a really small straight blade screwdriver, and put it right under here and pry up. And that's going to pull this off. You take that same screwdriver pry right here, and pry right here. And that will take this out. And you have these two clips right here and here, so pry this back and pry this back. And this will come off, and there's your battery.
Pull the battery out, use that same small straight blade screwdriver, flip it out and battery is a CR1620. Okay, now we are going to put the battery back in here and push down. And we'll take this, line it up, and push that down.
We're going to take the key. Line that up. And that's in there, and we'll put the cover back on. Now the cover there's a little tab on here you have to line up with here, so you kind of want to push it in there like that, and then it folds down and snaps in place. And we will take our Phillips head screw, and gently screw it back in. And that's good.
