How to replace a broken, damaged or burnt out license plate bulb to the 11 Toyota Prius
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Need to replace your license plate bulbs? You replace them from the inside, so you're going to open up the hatch. Right on the inside here is these two doors, one for each one. Going to use a plastic trim tool. You can buy these from 1AAuto.com. Pop this one, and this'll be the same for both sides. Kind of wedge the tool in here. Pop it out—there's little tabs on each side. Pull that down. See the bulb and socket is right in here? Going to turn it kind of clockwise to unlock it. Pull it right out.
That's a 194 bulb, you can pull it straight out. This one's in good shape so we'll reuse it. Put it back in. If you need to replace the socket, you can simply unlock it pushing the lockdown here, pulling it apart. Put it back in, and it'll click when it locks. Replace this—put it right back up in. Find the little locking tabs, turn it clockwise. Lock in place, and you change the bulb. Just repeat that for the other side. Put your door back in, and the job is complete.
