In this video, we're going to show you how to service your license plate light bulbs as well as replace the entire assembly on this 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. We show you on the passenger side, but the driver's side is the same procedure. The only tool you need is a flat blade screwdriver.

Just pry out on the top of your license plate light, and then pry out from the side and pull it out.

Then just twist out your socket, pull the bulb out, push your new bulb in, and twist the socket back into place.

If you want to disconnect the entire assembly, just stick a flat blade screwdriver into the slot, pry out, and just disconnect the harness. Then you switch the socket over to your new assembly, reconnect the harness, and then push the license plate light back into place. You're all set.
