Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how service the rear license plate light on this 2001 Nissan Frontier. It's pretty much the same as any 2001 to 2004. You're just going to need a small flat blade screwdriver.
You have two plate light bulbs and lenses. You'll notice here that one of them has fallen inside the bumper, so that's the one we're going to fix. Here's an up close view of that. I'm going to just pull back a little bit, you'll notice the tab right there, and I'm going to press in with the flat blade screwdriver to pop the plate light assembly out.
You'll notice that the bulb and socket are not even in there. They've fallen inside the bumper. What I'm going to do is reach in from underneath and push it through. Here you see the bulb and socket. This kind of bulb is serviced by just pulling it out of the socket straight.
In order to put it back in, you're just going to reverse that process and just slide it in. Go ahead and grab your plate light assembly and twist the socket with the bulb into the back of it, and then line up your tabs and snap it back in place. As you can see here the plate light assembly is functioning correctly on both sides now.
