Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service as well as replace your license plate light on this 1996 Chevy Tahoe. The items you'll need for this include a new license plate light from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, and a hammer.
To service your license plate light, you just go back from behind it, and the socket is right here. You just twist it counterclockwise and it pulls free. Then, you can pull the old bulb out and push your new bulb in, and it twists clockwise back in.
Now, to remove the entire assembly, just twist that socket back out, and you want to slide this clip up and out. Using a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer, you just want to hit that clip up and out. Once you've got it most of the way, you can just pull it out by hand.
Now, your license plate light will just pull right out. On the left is the old license plate light; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Push your new license plate light into place, slide that clip back down, twist your socket back in, and you're all set.
