  1. step 1 :Removing the MAF Sensor

    • Place the rubber grommet onto the air box if it came off with the sensor

Tools needed

  • Socket Extensions

    Flat Blade Screwdriver

    8mm Socket

    Ratchet

Remove the gray locking clip from the auto connector at the mass airflow meter. Take a small flat-bladed screw driver. Lift up on this. Hold the connector, and take the lock clip out. Just like that. With the lock clip out, squeeze this in, and pull the connector off of the mass airflow meter. Place that aside. I'm also going to put the lock clip in here so it doesn't get lost.

To remove these two hose clamps, you can either use a flat-bladed screwdriver ... or I find it's easier to use an 8 millimeter socket ratchet so it doesn't slip off and you can go a lot faster.

Start with this hose clamp going on the tube to the throttle body. Now take it, and just push it backwards. Can use the flat-bladed screwdriver to pry on the rubber. Sort of break the seal and pull that off. Now I'm going to undo the hose clamp on this side. Wiggle the mass airflow meter off of the air box.

There's our mass airflow meter. Since the rubber grommet came off with our mass airflow meter, this needs to stay with the air box. So I'm just going to peel it off, place it back on the air box, and line up these tabs and that tab on the air box.

Reinstall the mass airflow meter taking note of the direction of flow. There will be an arrow on it that needs to point to the engine. Make sure that you have the hose clamp installed. This one does have a little alignment tab for it. Lift up the air box. Just push that in so it seats. Slide the intake hose over it. Get the air box seated back in its little rubber mounts. There it is. Take my 8 millimeter socket ratchet, and tighten this back down. Once it gets tight, I will stop, and do the same thing for this one. Plug our electrical connector back in. Push the lock in. Mass airflow meter is replaced.
