Hey friends, it's Len here at 1A Auto. Today, I'm working on a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. I'm going to be showing you something fairly simple. We're going to be checking the mass airflow sensor. It's located right over here. We have your air filter. This is the upper box, the housing, right? Here's your mass airflow sensor unit. This is the wiring for it. There's a clamp right here and it goes to the air intake hose, okay?
The way to get to the mass airflow sensor, which is located under here, we're just going to squeeze this. There's one little tab right here where my thumb is, and one where my index is, squeeze them, give it a little tug. Now we'll take a peek in here at the wiring harness, make sure there isn't any funny colors, no rust or rainbow colors. Everything looks great, so we'll put this aside for now.
Next, we're going to loosen this clamp. This is the one that holds the hose to the mass airflow sensor. For this particular application, I'm going to use an eight millimeter. Loosen that up. There we are. Cool. Now I'm going to take these clips. There should be four of them. One, two, three, and if there was one located right back there, that's where it would be. That one's missing so it is what it is. I'm going to grab the upper box here, give it a little twist. Here we are.
Now that we have this off the air intake hose, we're just going to use a 10 millimeter right here and a 10 millimeter right there, we're going to loosen these right up. Turning them to the left, it's counter-clockwise. See if we can get them off. There's one, two. They both look the same. That's nice, you can't mess that up. Just going to take this, wiggle it, break it free, and there's your mass airflow sensor.
Okay, now it's time to reinstall the mass airflow sensor. All we're going to do is we're going to make sure that the sensor port is facing upward, right, it didn't come off this way. Came off this way. We're just going to give it a little twist, push it in. We'll take our two 10 millimeter head bolts, start one in. Not going to tighten it up until I get the other one started. Here we are, and just bottom bolt these out real quick. Take our 10 millimeter. Snug, a little bit. Snug, little bit. There we are.
Now we can go ahead and reinstall this. We're going to go right on the hose. Here we are. We get our clips in. If there was one back there, click we'll say. Here we are. We're going to tighten up our clamp right here. This is very important, you don't want to forget to tighten this, okay? You don't want dirty air getting sucked in without going through the air filter first. It had to get filtered, right?
Here we are, one last thing. Let's clip this in. Give it a little tug. Give this a little tug. Looks pretty great. Easy peasy. Bob's your uncle.
