In this video, we're going to be working with our 2012 GMC Acadia. We're going to replace the outer tail light assembly here. This is on the passenger's side, but this process is going to be exactly the same on the driver's side. This is an LED assembly, meaning if it burns out, you change the whole housing. There's no bulb in there for you to switch.

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 7mm socket, ratchet, socket extension, and flat blade screwdriver.

Open your tailgate. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, carefully remove the covers for the hardware that secures the tail light into place. Remove the two screws located down inside of these holes with the 7 millimeter socket, ratchet, and extension. Pull the tail light housing straight back, and use the small flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry up on this connector. Remove it from the back of the outer tail light assembly.

To install your new outer tail light assembly, simply plug it back in. Line up these pins with the corresponding holes here in the quarter panel. Snap it back into place and reinstall your two 7 millimeter screws. Line up the plastic covers and snap them back into place. Check for proper operation of your tail lights, close your tailgate, and you're good to go.
