Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace the PCV valve in this 2002 GMC 2500 that has a 6 liter. The 6 liters had the PCV valve removable and replaceable up through 2002, I believe. Also it's the same for a lot of the 5.3 liters, and really no tools are necessary. I do take the top engine cover off, but that is optional. It's pretty easy to replace.
With an 8mm socket, and ratchet, we're going to remove this top bolt.
If you lift up, these hoses aren't very flexible. There's a thicker looking hose that runs down here, and we'll just grab this hose, and pull it up. There's your PCV valve.
I think a new one goes on easy enough. Put this underneath, and right down and back in.
As I put that bolt back in, you probably can do this without taking that cover off, but I wanted to take the cover because I wanted to pull the hose up and show you the PCV valve. If you don't pull it up like that, most likely you can just do it without taking that cover off.
